EWB Strathclyde
Its good times for the EWB Strathclyde branch! Not only has our group grown greatly in the past year, we are also hosting the Scottish International Development Conference in February. For our technical project we are designing a portable lighting device for use in Ghana’s rural areas and have begun outreach in local schools just this month! Our wind turbine event in November was a great success receiving worldwide publicity through SgurrEnergy’s November 09 newsletter. We also offer training events, summer placements and have regular fundraising events.

We are a fun and lively branch meeting regularly on Monday evenings. Generally this is at 8pm in the Teviot Library Bar to collaborate on our research and relax over a pint. At present we have two exciting projects running this year.
The first is to research and design a sustainable, renewable method of generating electricity or fuel for rural farmers in Poipet, Cambodia. The other is Project DIEEM an exciting an innovative project designing engineering education material to produce a mannual to introduce practical technical teaching in developing countries.
