Now in its seventh year, the Engineering for People Design Challenge is the leading student engineering design challenge in the UK. Each year students amaze us with their innovative context-driven design solutions.
The 2018 challenge in numbers
6,000 students, including some of the brightest young minds in the country, have been battling it out to be crowned this year’s winner.
Over 80 teams shortlisted by their universities are competing for a chance to attend the grand finals on the 20 June 2018.
36 teams will be selected to do a short pitch on their design to our judging panel of leading industry professionals at the grand finals.
28 academic institutions, from the University of Brighton to the University of Strathclyde are taking part.
Seven design areas to explore: water, sanitation, energy, transport, built environment, ICT, and waste.
Three semi-finalists will be selected to present their ideas to the whole audience and compete to be crowned champion.
One winner will be selected by our panel of judges and will be presented with a cash prize to be spent on their studies.
