Our second session covered our purposeful principle, which we define as, considering all the impacts of engineering, from a project or product’s inception to the end of its life. This should be at a global and local scale, for people and planet.
To unpack this principle, we were joined by three panellists: Christian Jermyn, Head of Sustainability at Watson Marlow Fluid Technology Group, Bobby Banerjee, Professor of Management and Associate Dean of Research & Enterprise at Bayes Business School, City University of London and Wendy Pring, a Chartered Civil Engineer with 25 years’ waste industry experience and founder of The Way Forward 2045 which focuses on supporting a transition to a low carbon people-focused solution.
The active discussion covered a wide range of topics from what the UN Sustainable Development Goals really mean in a corporate context, the impact of buyer power and our individual commitment to global responsibility, the reality of corporate responsibility in 2021 and being bold in the workplace to impact change.
Alongside joining our movement, we believe our competencies provide a fantastic basis to begin the global responsible journey. To learn more about our remaining principles, why not sign up to attend our next Constructive Conversation when we will be discussing our inclusive principle.
