Liz has been running an organisation called FableVision since 1984, which works with communities of interest to transform narratives through cultural development. She is also a PhD candidate at the University of West of Scotland between business, creative industries and engineering departments.

Case Study: Jim Ellis

Jim Ellis is the neighbourhood coordinator in the Community Regeneration and Sustainability department for the Govan Ward in Glasgow City Council. The local authority deals with cleanliness, lighting, roads and all aspects people expect when they leave the house.

Humza represents the Glasgow Pollock constituency as a member of the Scottish Parliament, which includes Govan, and is the cabinet secretary for health and social care in the Scottish Government.

Giscard is a board member at Govan Community Project and studies community development at the University of Glasgow. He also works with Govan Help working with local government, local charities and the police.

Case Study: Fatema Aolmari

Originally from Syria, Fatema came to Glasgow as a refugee with her husband and six children five years ago. Since moving to Govan from Springburn in the north of Glasgow, she has engaged in a range of community activities.

Emma works for the Govan Heritage Trust. The charitable trust took over ownership of the former Govan Old church in 2016. It is one of the most historic sites in Glasgow with a story Govan wants to share.

Case Study: Doa’a Abu Amer

Originally from Palestine, Doa’a has been in the UK since 2018 where she received a scholarship for her Masters at the University of Leeds. Now living in Govan she works as a funding officer for Govan Community Project and works with groups of refugees and people seeking asylum with the British Red Cross.
